Avrona Bike
Overview
Intro
A black lake, beautiful views of the castle Tarasp and the other side of the valley. However, the highlight only follows after that: woodland and gravel dominate the racy, winding descent from Avrona to Vulpera.
Description
On a plateau to the right of the Inn, there is the start of the bike tour. After Vulpera, once a world-famous health resort due to its mineral spring, the route leads on dirt roads past Chants to the transmission tower. From here, the view of the mighty castle Tarasp, the landmark of the Lower Engadine, is particularly beautiful. At this point, the bike route turns.
We take the forest road towards Avrona, ride past at the car park of the picturesque mountain lake Lai Nair. A detour is worthwhile: quiet and – as the name suggests – nearly black, it is located on an upland moor above Tarasp.
Once more, the last descent from Avrona down to Vulpera requires concentration and good riding skills: on a track, especially built for bikers, we enter the forest. This is immediately followed by a steep downhill. The snappy and fast single trail leads around trees, over roots and stones. With well-developed bends and turns, it spoils us all the way down to the starting point in Vulpera.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
