Intro
Here there is gorgeous hiking through the beautiful Le Val Terbi area where you will experience wonderful nature - meadows, forests, canyons and pastures. This is a really nice walk, with attractive points: a forest hut (built in wood), a working taxidermist, UNESCO protected frescoes in a church.
Description
In Vicques, you'll appreciate the modern construction of the church with its stained glass windows. A visit to the Observatory and the Astronomy House is another enjoyable and cultural aspect to discover. Back to hiking, a climb through the meadows will take you to the forest hut Pre Godat. Then you can walk in the forest itself. If you wish, you can make a small detour to visit the famous taxidermist. If you plan to visit the taxidermist up until the summer of 2010, we advise you to book (more than 3,000 animals are exhibited). After the summer of 2010, a new exhibition building will be opened. Back on the road, you'll enjoy the picturesque road Tiergarten Gorges, which runs along the river. The itinerary continues uphill leaving the forest. Afterwards you descend and see a farm. Then you take a path through the fields to reach the village of Vermes.
In Vermes, a visit of the church is very worthwhile to admire its historic frescoes from the fifteenth century, (registered by UNESCO). Behind the church, you'll find the educational botanical trail. Further up, you will arrive at the pasture Plain-Fayen where there is another forest hut. You can have a nice break there or at the picnic's place in the shade of the beautiful pines. After a short rest, you go down through the forest until you reach the village of Corban. The forest huts are open to all for picnic and to use the grill. Several restaurants are located along the trail: Vicques, Vermes, Corban. Remember to check their opening days, if you plan to rest there. From Corban, there is an easy return by public transport (Postbus).
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
