Intro
Tramping through the pristine mountains, high above the Engadin's chain of lakes: this can only be experienced on the Corvatsch. The views of the frozen lakes and the pinnacles of the Corvatsch massif make for an impressive sight. At around the half-way point, the Ustaria Rabgiusa restaurant offers the an opportunity for a refreshment.
Description
From Sils, which is situated between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana, you can reach the Furtschellas middle station in comfort by cableway. The Lake Trail starts at an altitude of 2312 metres. It makes its way eastwards through practically pristine winter landscapes. Right at the start of the trail you will cross the 19a "Furtschellas unten" slope, where some caution is required. After a steep climb, vistas of the frozen lakes in the valley can be enjoyed, as can views upwards of the icy pinnacles and rocky slopes of the Corvatsch massif.
From here, the trail continues on flat terrain to an altitude of 2456 meters. This point is the perfect spot for a photograph. To capture the panoramic view, a smartphone with a panorama mode is recommended. The trail now continues slightly downhill before the path forms a wide loop and leads to the Ustaria Rabgiusa restaurant which is located at the centre of this circular trail. The large sun terrace has a windbreak and is the ideal stopping place for a rest.
After enjoying a refreshment, you will head westwards and back to the Furtschellas middle station. After a gentle climb, the highest point along the route is reached. Immediately afterwards, you will pass alongside the Lejin Epidote, one of six Upper Engadin "Lejins" (Romansh for small lakes). These lakes are frequently named after prevalent crystals. To finish, you will now head solely downhill, returning to the starting point next to the Furtschellas middle station.
