Intro
Fleeing from the hustle and into the quiet, wonderful winter world of Gamperfin: this winter hiking path leads through sparse forests and untouched Alpine meadows with panoramic view to Säntis and the Alvier massif.
Description
With the chairlift to Oberdorf and on the first few meters from the mountain station along the ski lift we are still in the hustle of winter sports. But soon the way is leading into the forest and with every step it is getting quieter. We find ourselves in a completely different world. The Alpine meadows are untouched in winter, only the tracks of chamoises, roes, rabbits and foxes are visible in the snow. Past sparse forests and snowed Alpine huts the way leads through the soft, hilly landscape.
On the opposite valley side you see Alpstein with Säntis and the impressive Wildhaus Schafberg in the foreground. Soon we reach Ölberg and the view opens to the Alvier massif, which seems to be Alpine from here. But also in bad weather conditions this hiking tour is worth the efforts, when the fog is mystically lying between the spruces or the snowflakes are quietly trickling.
Approximately after half of the tour we reach the daily destination, the hut of SC Grabserberg on Gamperfin. A hot tea in fresh winter air awakes the spirits for the way back. The skiing house Gamperfin is open during the entire winter season except on Mondays and Tuesdays. Via Lochgatter, past Ölberg, we hike back to Oberdorf. Before or after the tour there is the possibility to enjoy a meal in the mountain restaurant Oberdorf.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
