Ostschweizer Wein-Route
Overview
Intro
The first highlight of the tour awaits shortly after the start: the thundering waters of the Rhine Falls never cease to amaze visitors of all ages.
Description
The largest waterfall in Europe is a starting point for the onward journey through the rolling hills of Zurich’s wine country. Various viewpoints continue to offer new vistas around every corner. It is worth making a detour to Lake Husemer before reaching Ossingen. The idyllic swimming lake situated in the middle of the forest beckons visitors to take a short break. The route then follows the course of the Thur river through the wide valley plain. It is on these sunny slopes that the vines for excellent Thurgau wine grow. The former Carthusian monastery Kartause Ittingen invites you to take a short break. Looking back over 850 years of history, this place represents one of the most important cultural monuments in the region. This is where you can experience hospitality, education, spirituality, and regionality. The tour then continues along the base of the vine-covered Ottenberg to Weinfelden.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
