Description
There are tons of wood in “Im Fang”. Felled, not yet felled, wooden chalets, lumberjacks and gabions, electro-welded metal baskets. They are pre-filled with sufficiently large stones in the quarry and then delivered to customers. Nowadays you can find them almost everywhere, and they are hip, so to speak. They are found in landscaping, for example, as a perimeter wall. They help to stabilise slopes and are used for noise and bank protection. They are often simply used for decoration. This stage soon leads towards Charmey on the main road. You go past slopes where cows graze in stoic calm.
Although the small Lac de Montsalvens is quite close to the cycling route, you cannot see much of it. The forest section seems too densely overgrown and archaic, and larger stones sometimes come loose from the steep rock faces. At least that is what is indicated on a road sign. The landscape in the Gruyère region is quite similar to that in the Jura. Once you have crossed the wild gorge with its bold streams, there follows lush farmland with legions of dairy cows. The world-famous Gruyere cheese is made from raw milk.
Gruyères and Bulle are worth a detour. The beautifully decorated town of Gruyères is almost as sweet as the chocolate house in Broc, “Maison Cailler” (note opening times). You can learn a great deal about the history of chocolate here, from the Aztecs to today’s innovations. A curvy bridge leads across the wild Jogne Gorge. On the left you catch a glimpse of the Lac de la Gruyère, on the right you can see the pyramid-shaped, grassy summit of La Berra. An attractive face that is very popular with hikers.
The buses with red dots on a white background are popular, or at least stand out, in Fribourg. Just like the church and the golf course in Pont-la-Ville. It is a leisurely and undulating route towards the Ärgera. In French, the river is called La Gérine and you cross it near Tentlingen. The village stretches out in a panoramic location on a high plateau and is surrounded by hilly countryside. In the distance, looking out over the farming countryside, Fribourg appears almost like a city. But you are not there yet. For: you have a few bridges to go over. And below this, the Gottéron and of course the much larger Saane flow. Only then are you there; in the wonderful, medieval and bilingual capital of the canton of the same name.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
