This route leads from Oberstammheim to the Schwandegg and Girsberg Castles and back again. This particularly well-kept landscape with it's romantic timber-framed buildings and historic aspects is always well worth a visit.
Description
This route starts in Oberstammheim, where you can already gain a first impression of the region's half-timbered buildings. Splendid views of the Stammertal Valley open up as the path leads through sweeping fields until you reach Restaurant and Castle Schwandegg in Waltalingen, which is an inviting place to take a break. The castle is located in a vineyard high above the village.
From Guntalingen, with it's charming half-timbered houses to admire, the route follows a wide path that easily negotiates the lush meadows, yellow maize fields and a landscape of gently rolling hills. The idyllic scenery allows you to experience pure relaxation, pleasing tranquillity and enjoy the region's captivating beauty to the full.
Leaving the fields behind, the route leads through the half-timbered villages of Unterstammheim and Oberstammheim and their vineyards. In Oberstammheim you can get a good view of the enchanting Galluskapelle chapel. This is the highest point of the route, revealing lovely views of the entire Stammertal Valley.
