Zermatt-Furi-Weg
Overview
Intro
A route full of charm, romance and authenticity. This winter hike that leads from Zermatt to Furi through the small village of Zmutt, where time seems to have stood still.
Description
This winter hike takes you to a magical alpine world of times gone by. This pleasant hiking trail starts from Zermatt and leads up to Zmutt. Time appears to have stood still in this little village. The village of Zmutt is over 500 years old. The dark wooden houses give a sense of romanticism and tradition. The little white chapel is visible from afar.
The path leads through the hamlet and crosses the Zmuttbach torrent, in the depths of which you can see imposing stalactites and frozen walls, depending on how cold the winter is. Perhaps you’ll bump into some climbers there, too! A rural road leads gently on to Furi.
This route passes partly through the “Matterhorn Trail”, which features information boards about the Matterhorn. From here you can admire the mountain’s north face.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
