The Bernese Oberland valley railroad was opened in 1890 and has been been electrified since 1914. It connects Interlaken (Interlaken East) with Grin with Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Besides serving the resort towns, it also enables access to the world famous Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe.

Höhematte Interlaken, a protected area of historical interest since 1864, affords views from the promenade with Interlaken’s top hotels to the imposing panorama of the Jungfrau. We are home to around six bee colonies, located directly on the hotel grounds and cared for by a local beekeeper. The honey they produce is used throughout the hotel, including at our breakfast buffet.
