Experience the Berglistüber near Linthal in Glarnerland: The Fätschbach plunges 44 meters into the depths here. A short path leads you close to the thundering waterfall.
Berglistüber at a glance
The Berglistüber is located on the Fätschbach above Linthal in the Glarnerland, not far from the Klausen Pass road. The stream has dug a young bed in limestone from the Griesstock ceiling and plunges in three stages from the Urnerboden at 1200 metres to the valley of the Linth at 720 metres. The middle fall, which is around 44 metres high, is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland.

Walk to the waterfall from Bergli (5 minutes)
From the car park at the former Bergli restaurant on the Klausen Pass road, you can reach the Berglistüber on a short path through forest and meadow. The rock face consists of around 150-million-year-old limestone from the Griesstock ceiling, underneath which lies younger flysch rock. For safety reasons, the Berglistüber may only be admired from the front and side.
- Good to know: Parking at Bergli, access from Linthal via the Klausen Pass road.
- Tip: Without a car, you can travel from Linthal in summer with the Klausen Pass line.
Hike from Braunwald via Nussbüel and Bergli (3–4 hours)
From Braunwald you hike via Nussbüel and Oberberg down to Bergli and on to the Berglistüber. The route requires stamina and sturdy shoes. On the way you cross alpine meadows and forest before you reach the thundering waterfall at your destination.
- Good to know: Braunwald is car-free, arrival only by funicular from Linthal.
- Tip: In summer, the bus of the Klausen Pass line takes you back to Linthal.
