Relational Painting. Tondo n.3
In the early 1940s, following in the footsteps of Mondrian, Glarner developed a new organization on the painting surface. Based on an orthogonal structure and the exclusive use of primary colours matched with white, black, and different shades of grey, the artist's paintings express the dynamic balance that is created between the different trapezoidal elements. In works such as this one, moreover, the artist manages to balance the tensions between the contrasting elements inside a new surface: the circle.
