On a Field Trip
Amid larch, Swiss stone pine, and spruce trees, surrounded by the fragrant forest air, you’ll be surprised by the occasional deciduous tree and other forest dwellers. Ancient and young marvels of the forest tell stories and invite you to embark on a journey of discovery with all your senses.
On our hike for all ages, we’ll immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of the mountain forest. With widely spreading branches, gnarled trunks, furrowed bark, or dense root systems, some of these trees have stood here for hundreds of years. How do they withstand the freezing cold and the wind? How old do you think they really are? And what do we hear when we listen closely? We’re sure to find traces of the animals that call these trees home along the way.
