A TRADITIONAL PANTOMIME FULL OF MAGIC, MAYHEM & MISCHIEF!
Get ready for a magical adventure packed with laughter, live music and plenty of audience participation!
When Hansel & Gretel venture into the enchanted forest, they encounter a wicked witch, a rather unusual gingerbread house, a larger-than-life Dame, a handsome Prince and a whole host of entertaining characters.
Will good triumph over evil? Will Hansel and Gretel escape the forest? And most importantly, will the audience manage to shout loudly enough to save the day?
Come along, boo the baddies, cheer the goodies, and join us for a traditional pantomime presented by GAOS!
Fun for ages 4 to 104!
GAOS has been producing pantomimes in English for over 50 years! And every aspect of the production, both on stage and behind the scenes, is created by volunteers. GAOS is a non-profit association, and its activities also help support charitable causes.
What makes a traditional pantomime?
It is not simply a fairy tale brought to the stage; it follows centuries-old rules, where lots of audience participation is needed!
It needs:
* A Principal Boy — often played by a woman!
* A Pantomime Dame — traditionally played by a man. The louder, brighter and more outrageous, the better!
* A Villain — thoroughly wicked, highly boo-able and destined to get his or her comeuppance.
* Good versus Evil — magic, mayhem and... guess how it ends!
* Comedy — slapstick, wordplay, double entendres. Jokes for children... and quite a few that go right over their heads!
* Songs, music & dance — with chorus members from the age of 6 years old!
* Audience participation — shouting, singing, warning the hero, booing the villain... and answering back when required!
✨ A generous helping of magic, spectacle, sheer silliness and imagination, with absolutely no fear of being ridiculous!
So... make plenty of noise, and remember: the louder you are, the better the panto!
