Introduction to Intaglio Printing
Adults ages 16 and up
In intaglio printing, the image is carved or etched into the plate (coated cardboard, plastic, zinc, copper, etc.). Drypoint etchings are printed on our press. For etching and printing the plates, on the last session we’ll take public transportation to Zurich to visit Mathias Gentinetta’s copperplate printmaking studio at https://kupferdruckwerkstatt.ch/, where all the necessary equipment is available. No prior experience is necessary. Materials other than copper plates are included (can be purchased from Mathias during the course).
