Sacred Romanticism
Overview
Intro
The Ad Astra Ensemble in Concert at the Bramois Church
In the beautiful acoustics of the Bramois church, the selected works by Rheinberger, Mendelssohn, Fauré, and—for solo organ—Saint-Saëns promise a moment of beauty and serenity not to be missed. The recently inaugurated organ is also perfectly suited to the repertoire. The gentle beauty of Fauré’s motets and his “Messe basse” stands alongside the sophisticated yet expressive composition of Mendelssohn’s “Laudate pueri” as well as the grandeur of Rheinberger’s Mass in A major. An organ piece by Saint-Saëns—a Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major—rounds out this program.
