Biberegg-Herrenboden-Schneeschuhtrail
Overzicht
Inleiding
Bridges and views are the stars of this snowshoe trail. Along the way, hikers can take off their snowshoes and enjoy a special experience: the foot suspension bridge in Sattel-Hochstuckli.
Beschrijving
After Biberegg, the route passes over a picturesque bridge and crosses the Steiner Aa stream. Hikers are soon surrounded by a small fairy-tale forest. Once they've warmed up, they're ready for the steady climb. They can take a breather on the way up, turn around and enjoy the view across the Rothenthurm moor, the largest continuous upland moor in Switzerland. The trail runs over snow-covered meadows to the Spilmettlen. With the toughest stretch behind them, hikers are rewarded for their efforts with a panoramic view of the Ägeri Valley, the Schwyz basin, the Rigi and Lake Lucerne.
A short descent now leads them to Herrenboden and another high point soon afterwards: the 374-metre Skywalk, one of Europe's longest foot suspension bridges and a memorable experience on the tour for those with a head for heights. Less adventurous visitors can just skip the bridge and carry on hiking. After one last short climb, the trail slopes steadily but gently downhill to Mädern. The circle is now complete and the familiar path leads back to the starting point in Biberegg.
