Inleiding
Steeped in legend, Oberblegisee counts among Switzerland's most beautiful mountain lakes. Wild mountain streams, secluded rest spots and magnificent alpine flora make the hike up to the lake a memorable experience – a thrilling excursion for families.
Beschrijving
The hike starts at Grotzenbüel at an altitude of 1,559 metres and leads slightly downhill to the tiny hamlet of Unter Stafel. The well-maintained path winds its way across alpine meadows and sparse forests, past fireplaces and inviting rest spots. The view extends over the villages in the valley, with the imposing peaks of Hausstock, Hanenstock, Gross Kärpf and Charenstock rising just above it.
The hiking trail finally reaches Alp Bösbächi. The roaring Bösbächi stream rushes into the valley while alpine pigs enjoy their siesta in the shade. Only a few metres away, you can see the Bächibeizli – a cosy alpine inn inviting you to linger.
Now it is time to tackle the last section to Oberblegisee. Slowly, you get closer to the mighty rock face surrounding the lake. Once you reach the top, it's worth pausing to enjoy the enchanting scenery. The echo reverberates loudly from the impressive Glärnisch massif. Secluded bathing and picnic spots by the water invite you to rest awhile. Soak up the sun, let your feet dangle in the grass or enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake. The mountain lake, formed by a glacial moraine, will captivate you with its still unexplored outlet. The beautiful alpine flora, the hidden outlet and – last but not least -- the legend of the Geisser (goatherd) of Oberblegisee add a touch of mysticism to the lake.
The route continues down the valley towards Oberblegi-Unterstafel. After just under half an hour, the hike ends at the Luchsingen-Brunnenberg cable car.
