Inleiding
De hoogtewandeling begint in Sumvitg en loopt langs de linkerflank van het dal naar Brigels. Hoog boven de dalbodem van de Surselva slingert de Senda Sursilvana zich langs de bergflanken. Steile bergbeekjes kruisen de looprichting en stromen verderop de Voor-Rijn in. Het gaat door schilderachtige Bündner dorpen.
Beschrijving
Sumvitg is located downstream of the Rhine, around 7 km from Disentis in the Surselva region. It is one of those municipalities that has preserved the Romansh language. In the heart of the village, in addition to beautifully decorated town houses, the parish church of S. Gion Battesta also catches the eye.
After the short stretch along the main road, the path branches off to the left. Gravel and asphalt alternate as far as Rabius, then the path branches off into the forest. From here onwards, paths and gravel roads alternate. At Cartascha, it becomes steeper. In the forest, individual rays of sunlight illuminate the lush green ferns along the side of the path. Passing by streams and via the even steeper zigzag path at the exit of Val Zinzera, you have completed the first few metres upwards. After a good three hours, you reach Schlans.
You continue hiking towards Dardin on a surfaced road for over three kilometres. Then comes the final climb of 250 metres to the finish of the stage in Breil/Brigels. The village is located in a sun trap in Surselva (Grisons) and its fascinating mountain panorama is impressive.
De sleutel voor een prettige wandeltocht is onder andere een zorgvuldige planning. Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
