Vanaf de Säntis een vergezicht dat toch wel uniek te noemen is. Italië, Oostenrijk, Liechtenstein, Duitsland, Zwitserland en Frankrijk zijn vanaf het zonneterras te zien.

The mountain inn Alter Säntis (2502 m above sea level) Views and warm hospitality: On the Saentis, 2502 meters above sea level, is situated in a spectacular location, the mountain inn Alter Säntis. In family tradition, this guest house is run by the fifth generation since 1850. From the 13 rooms (Nostalgia double room in the old building and double rooms with washbasin or shower / WC in the new building) opens up with good distance vision a fantastic view of some 2,000 mountain peaks and in six countries. In Dormitory find 70 people in a room for five to 29 people their sleep. In the cozy mountain inn guests are pampered with fine Appenzell specialties. The Säntis - the popular destination, the high-lying intermediate stop or attractive starting point for hikes in the Alpstein.
The mountain inn Alter Säntis is on 2502 meters above sea level and is about 2 minutes walk from the top station of the railway Saentis. The valley station of the cable car is at Schwägalp (1352 masl), which is accessible by car or by public transport (Bus from Urnäsch or Nesslau-Neu St. Johann). With the cable car to reach the summit easily in a few minutes. In summer, open 600 km walking the Alpsteinarea. Various hiking trails of varying difficulty you lead from the valley to the Saentis or vice versa.
