Standing Nude (Elvira)
The nude in our painting is characteristic for Modigliani’s style. Long elongated bodies and almond-shaped eyes in an oval face are typical of the figures he portrayed. Inspired by the Italian Renaissance and African tribal art, his figures are portrayed frontally and simplified. Modigliani was originally from Italy and came to Paris in 1906 where his nudes were initially considered to be scandalous. He only become famous after his death at a young age.
