International Museum Day in Ticino

Every year, on International Museum Day on May 18, museums in Switzerland and Liechtenstein open their doors to the public, offering a unique opportunity to discover the region's cultural heritage. Throughout the month of May, numerous museums organize events, guided tours, and special initiatives. The complete list of participating institutions is available at museums.ch, which also lists any free offerings and dedicated programs. * International Museum Day aims to raise public awareness of the importance of museums as tools for cultural exchange, capable of fostering mutual enrichment, understanding between peoples, cooperation, and peace. In Switzerland, the initiative is coordinated by the Swiss Museums Association (SAM) and ICOM Switzerland, in collaboration with the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) and TaM – Tandem at the Museum.
