The finest chamber music by Ignaz Pleyel, cleverly arranged for clarinet and string trio, opens the evening with charm and elegance. This is followed by a highlight of music history: Beethoven's monumental ‘Eroica’ – in a gripping chamber version that makes every detail audible and allows the full drama, power and vision of this masterpiece to be felt immediately.
