Where the Light Rests

From 1 October 2026 to 10 January 2027, La Galerie-Caslano presents the solo exhibition “Where the Light Rests” by Elisabeth Hübscher at the Casa Anziani Malcantonese in Caslano, curated by Mariagrazia Poncia. The exhibition continues the exhibition programme that La Galerie-Caslano has been developing within the spaces of the Casa Anziani.

Elisabeth Hübscher’s painting begins with an observation of nature: water, earth, sky and vegetation. Lakes, waterfalls, the sea, water lilies and flowers become images suspended between memory, light and silence.

For the artist, nature is in constant motion: the changing seasons, the thaw, the warmth of the earth, the shifting light. Each painting seeks to hold on to a moment destined to change.

Confronted with the fragility of the environment, Elisabeth does not seek to explain or denounce. She observes and allows the images themselves to suggest what is slowly changing.

“Not what we see, but what we feel in the presence of what we see.”

Through egg tempera and a pared-back approach to painting, the artist seeks not only to depict a place, but also to preserve its atmosphere and its emotional resonance.
