簡介

Between Broc and Châtel-sur-Montsalvens in the canton of Fribourg lies the spectacular and romantically wild Jaunbach Gorge. Wooden bridges, tunnels and rock galleries make this walk an adventurous excursion for the entire family.

The Gorges are closed until further notice due to major damage. Pending a possible reopening, the Sentier des patrimoines de la Jogne offers a cultural alternative between Charmey and Broc. Alternative Route

Take the whole family for a walk from the imposing dam at Montsalvens to Broc, or start at Broc and go to Montsalvens. This fascinating piece of architecture erected in 1920-1921 is one of Europe’s first double-arched dams, with both vertical and horizontal arches. The 52 metre high and 110 metre long dam offers an impressive view of the artificial Lake Montsalvens and down to Jaunabachschlucht Gorge, or Gorge de la Jonge, as it is known in French.

Smoothly polished stones create a sheer face down into the gorge. There is a trail through moss-covered rock formations, a climbing wall for free climbers and intricate rock faults that heads toward Broc. The cooling waters of the Jaunbach provide a soothing spot to rest tired feet. If you would like to venture further, the path passes by the Chapelle des Marches and finally ends in the enchanting town of Gruyères.

Getting there: Take public transport to Broc or Châtel-sur-Montsalvens. There is a small car park in Broc near the gorge.
