Around 700 stars twinkle above the squares and alleyways of St.Gallen's old town in December, bathing the historic facades of the UNESCO World Heritage town in a festive Christmas glow.
Every year on November 30, the starry sky of St. Gallen is lit up in a festive way at the star vernissage. The stars twinkle and dance in a light choreography specially created for the Swiss city of stars, making more than just children's eyes sparkle. The huge, festively decorated Christmas tree in front of the cathedral's baroque towers is another highlight.
The Christmas market takes place under the starry sky of St. Gallen every day during Advent. The offerings are varied: from homemade hats to fragrant candles and hot mulled wine, everything is on offer. A varied program of musicians, choirs and artistic performances is part of the Christmas season under the starry sky.
In addition to the Christmas market, artists present their home-made Christmas creations on two Advent Saturdays at the Christkindlimarkt on Gallusplatz.
