Intro

A popular route up the Castor starts at the Klein Matterhorn. The climbs is not as challenging compared with other mountain giants, but is by no means any less beautiful.

Castor (4,223m a.s.l.) لمحة سريعة عن

The snow-capped twin peaks Castor and Pollux, which are reminiscent of Greek mythology, can be found in the Valais Alps. Castor, the larger of the two, was first climbed in 1861. Today, it is considered one of the less challenging four-thousanders. But the wonderful views of the nearby Liskamm are very beautiful indeed. A popular route up leads climbers from the Klein Matterhorn, across the Grande Ghiacciaio di Verra and the western side. Shortly before reaching the peak, the mountaineers need to cross a crevasse that slopes sharply downwards.

Climbing four-thousander summits requires good physical health, meticulous preparation and technical skills in mountain sports. We recommend booking a mountain guide. Switzerland Tourism accepts no liability in this case.
