Arts du feu: ceramic, glass and metal market
Overview
Intro
On 4 and 5 September 2027, the Arts du Feu exhibition and market will once again take to the streets of the medieval town of Gruyères.
Launched in 2013, this biennial event showcases everything from blacksmiths and glassblowers to potters and enamellers. Artists and craftspeople specialising in fire-based crafts will have their stalls in the heart of Gruyères to showcase their respective creations. These include functional pieces and sculptures crafted from fine materials, which can be found in both traditional forms (bowls, ceramic and raku dishes, glassware, etc.) and decidedly contemporary styles.
The artists are there to talk about their art and the materials they work with. Some will be working at their stalls, much to the delight of the public. Hailing from Switzerland, France and elsewhere, the exhibitors at Les Arts du Feu include many who are regulars at the event. A programme of events will punctuate these two days dedicated to skills passed down from generation to generation. These traditional techniques are being adapted to meet today’s needs.
