In the restorer's workshop
Overview
Intro
What Masterpieces Reveal
Using the story behind a work of art as a starting point, we will explore the artists’ techniques, the changes brought about by the passage of time, and the challenges and stages of the restoration process.Special attention will be given to the often-unseen work carried out behind the scenes: the phases of analysis, diagnosis, and intervention, as well as the delicate decisions that guide conservators. The lecture will also shed light on the relationships between conservation, museums, and the public, examining how these restored works continue to live on and engage with our contemporary perspective. Lecture by Andrea Carini, in Italian. CHF 15.- (free for Dante members)
