La Yegros (AR) (Nu Cumbia) The fascinating and exuberant Argentine artist La Yegros—arguably the most magnetic artist on the South American continent—is back with a new album! Crowned the queen of nu-cumbia, La Yegros hasn’t rested on her laurels. Surrounded by the same collaborators who have supported her for the past decade, yet eager to reinvent herself, she has set out to record her fourth album, which stands out in her discography. Although her personal folk style remains rooted in popular South American expressions, La Yegros now draws on contemporary globalized music, while tackling intimate, often melancholic—even painful—subjects, which she overcomes with the same energy that drives her in concert. Nothing can stop this Argentine whirlwind, made all the more captivating by the personal reflections that now surface beneath the veneer of the festive atmospheres she sets ablaze.Hermanos Hierro (VS) (Andalusian Groove) Hermanos Hierro: “hierro” (iron) in their name, “fuego” (fire) in their sound. Raised between the mountains of Valais and the beaches of Andalusia, the two brothers share a passion for music and for bringing people together. Behind the turntables, El Aluçinante has been making his mark for years. His brother has finally joined him to form a duo and present a selection of sounds that evoke gazpacho and orange blossoms. Andalusian groove, flamenco rock, gypsy rumba, and other Iberian gems. They’ll ignite the evening’s first spark and then return to keep the fire burning until closing time.
