For the third edition, Castello Visconteo in Locarno opens its doors after dusk for an immersive experience with the Dama del Castello, literary scenes and a workshop on herbs and folk traditions.
An immersive evening at the castle
The third edition of Notte delle streghe al Castello Visconteo di Locarno combines storytelling, theatre and historical inspiration in an evening journey through the castle’s rooms and old prisons.
What to expect
With an LED candle, participants follow the Dama del Castello through an atmosphere where history and imagination meet. The experience explores the origins of Halloween, episodes linked to the Visconti family, ancient legends, and stories of women accused of witchcraft and tried in Ticino.
A new feature this year is the presence of actress Ioana Butu, who brings to life the mysterious protagonist of La mendicante di Locarno by Heinrich von Kleist.
Workshop
The evening continues with L’Officina delle erbe segrete, a hands-on activity devoted to herbs, potions and folk traditions. Participants can discover and combine different ingredients, create their own potion and make a small herbal sachet to take home as a keepsake.
