Philosophy at Löchligaischt
Overview
Intro
An entertaining lecture series for young and old, presented by Andreas Thiel. Genesis – A Divine Prologue to Human History
What is man? This question drives modern philosophers to madness.
In contrast, ancient philosophy does not get bogged down in the question itself, but rather finds answers. One of the most astonishing texts, which was already the subject of reflection by the ancient Greeks, is the prologue to the Old Testament, “Genesis.” In it, humankind is given a divine mandate: “Subdue the earth.” This sentence is the key to understanding human history. However, a linguistic analysis of the creation account turns this sentence on its head.
