Intro

Fotoforum Zug Exhibition at the Gotthardstrasse Gallery (railway underpass), 6300 Zug

If you look closely, you’ll find them all over Switzerland: strange concrete blocks that are also called “Toblerones” because of their shape.

They were erected during World War II to stop advancing tanks in an emergency. When I started photographing these tank obstacles a few years ago, I was particularly drawn to their unusual appearance—as if they were remnants of a long-lost civilization. I never would have thought that, while I was working on my project, tank barriers would once again be erected in the heart of Europe.
