What is the life of a wandering shepherd like today? Ernst Vogel, one of the few shepherds still taking to the road with sheep in Switzerland, will answer this question for you.
In the winter, Ernst is on the move seven days a week with his donkeys, dogs and around 500 sheep. He cares for his animals, rears their young and nurses those that are sick back to health. Whatever the weather, he hikes across the fields of the Lucerne Mittelland along with his flock. If you’ve always wondered what a day in the life of a wandering shepherd was like, you can accompany Ernst for a day and find out!
