At Hotel Barabas Lucerne, history comes to life in a truly unique way. As Switzerland’s first prison hotel, the former central prison combines historic charm with modern comfort in the heart of Lucerne’s Old Town.

Heavy doors, iron bars and walls full of stories still reflect the building’s fascinating past. The hotel offers a selection of 60 different prison cells and rooms, ranging from shared rooms with communal bathrooms to single, double, triple and quadruple rooms with private bathrooms.

In the morning, guests can enjoy a rich breakfast buffet. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant Izakaya Nozomi serves authentic Japanese specialties in a unique atmosphere.

Thanks to its central location, the hotel is easily accessible by public transport. Lucerne railway station is only about a 10-minute walk away.
