Intro

The pretty town of Zug is more than just the "Crypto Valley" and home to the delicious cherry cake. The town delights visitors with its picturesque old town, impressive sunsets over the lake and its invigorating art and culture programme.

Above all, Zug is known for its contemporary art and stylish artworks in public spaces. Anyone travelling around Zug on foot, on their own or on a free guided tour, can discover over 100 different objects by well-known and lesser-known personalities. Roman Signer is definitely a well-known and renowned Swiss artist and a visit to his famous walk-in installation "Seesicht" is highly recommended. It is located in a prominent position on Zug's lakeside promenade at the Rössliwiese. A large staircase leads you below the water level and offers a view of the lake through a window - with a bit of luck, you can see small fish swimming up and down in front of the window. There are also other works on the lakeshore, such as The Knife Edge by Henry Moore and the two swans by Romano Galizia.

Other art and cultural venues in Zug
Art lovers will also find other works by various artists in public spaces in the centre of the old town. If you would like to marvel at even more contemporary and modern art, it is best to visit the Kunstshaus Zug, which is located in a slightly elevated position in beautiful surroundings. The museum has a world-renowned collection of Viennese modern art (Klimt, Hoffmann, Schiele, Kokoschka and many more). An idyllic garden also invites you to linger. Directly opposite, and in total contrast, is the historic Burg Museum, where guests can learn more about Zug's history from the High Middle Ages to the present day. Just a short walk away, culture enthusiasts will find the Theater Casino Zug, the cultural beacon of the city of Zug, right on Lake Zug. Whether operas, theatre plays, concerts or comedy evenings - here you can sing, dance and laugh. The new programme is announced each autumn. And by the way, did you know? Zug is also home to the smallest photo gallery in Switzerland.
