In summer, the capital of the canton of Jura immerses itself in the world of comics. The “Delémont’BD” festival, which honours and celebrates the art of comics, breathes new life into Delémont’s old town.
Delémont, the capital of the canton of Jura, is situated between Basel and Biel/Bienne, not far from France, and is surrounded by the picturesque rolling landscape of the Jura hills. The cityscape is characterised by the old town, with its medieval buildings, unique facades, fountains and cosy terraces. Delémont, however, strives to not only be the capital of the canton of Jura, but also the Swiss capital of comics.
“La Fête” is held over an entire weekend. The festival brings together artists and comic book fans of all ages. Book signings, talks and meet-ups with authors, performances, concerts, youth workshops and film screenings promise an unforgettable weekend. There is also an open-air museum circuit dedicated to Swiss and international artists. From June to August, the comic exhibitions and installations can be visited in Delémont’s old town.
How to get there
Delémont is easily accessible by train. The old town is within walking distance of the train station. For visitors arriving by car, parking is available at the car parks “Parking du Gros Pré”, “Parking Schäublin SA”, “Parking de la Place de l’Etang” and “Parking du Ticle”.

There are unusual places to explore in Delémont on the Circuit Secret. A digital key provides access to the city’s sights, including the Porte au Loup, the bell tower of the church of Saint-Marcel, the castle’s guardhouse and the Villa Vermeille. All the sites are brought to life through animated films created by Dexter Maurer, a talented artist from the Jura.
