Intro

After two years of extensive renovation, the listed Art Nouveau villa will shine in new splendor from May 9, 2026.

The Museum Langmatt in Baden is unique in the Swiss museum landscape. Opened in 1990, it owns one of the most important private collections of French Impressionism in Europe. It was assembled in their villa at the beginning of the 20th century by the industrialist couple Sidney and Jenny Brown. The unmistakable charm lies in the presentation of outstanding pictures from art history in historic living rooms. Today, the Art Nouveau villa, preserved in its original furnishings, is a listed building. After two years of extensive renovation, the Langmatt will shine in new splendor from May 9, 2026, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in an incomparable atmosphere.

The impressive Impressionist collection includes masterpieces from Corot and Boudin to Degas, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley, Cézanne and Gau-guin. French furniture from the 18th century, clocks, chandeliers, carpets, porcelain, silver and Chinese ceramics allow the public to immerse themselves in another era. The historic Langmatt ensemble invites visitors to relax, regenerate and enjoy a holistic experience.

Since its opening, the Langmatt has been run as an open venue for cultural activities. In addition to collection exhibitions, the museum presents contemporary artists several times a year as a house of discovery, as well as a varied, imaginative program of events that offers a low-threshold offer for all ages.
