Hint

Intro

The villages get larger, the hills rounder and lower, but the views remain. After a short climb to the Blasenfluh, the rest of the hike is almost merely a pleasant downhill stroll to the wide Aaretal valley at Münsingen.

Schützenfahrbrügg

Due to the new construction of the Schützenfahrbrügg, the hiking trail will be diverted via the road.

Description

Münsingen in the Aare Valley between Bern and Thun once used to be a typical farming village. Today it has a population of over 10,000. Just after you start the hike at the train station, you pass through a beautiful, scenic landscape created by the Innere Giesse creek. A lovely path meanders along both left and right banks of the creek where numerous ducks are paddling around. Shortly thereafter you cross the motorway and then the Aare River near the Münsingen outdoor pool.

Now follows the ascent to Hindere Chlapf over stairs and paths. It’s a bit steep at times, but the views across the Aare Valley all the way to the Emmental Valley are worth the effort. A short time later, at the top of Belpberg, the view also opens up to the other side. The gorgeous panorama certainly does justice to the route’s name: the far view in the direction of Mt. Gantrisch and the surrounding mountain peaks is simply fantastic. Continue downhill to Toffen. The village is located in the Gürbetal valley, beautifully nestled between Längenberg and Belpberg. Meanwhile, after about three hours of hiking, half of today’s distance is behind you.

The trail alternates between forest and meadows until Leueberg. The pretty picnic area is perfect to take a break and the Alpine panorama reaches its climax: you won’t know where to look first – at Finsteraarhorn, Eiger, Breithorn or Blüemlisalp. After hiking for another hour through the Taanwald forest and across lush meadows with spectacular views, today’s section ends in Rüeggisberg. Situated in the middle of Gantrisch Park, the village is primarily known for the ruins of Rüeggisberg Priory.

An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
