Intro
This snowshoe trail between the Col de la Givrine and La Cure, a small village on the border with France, takes you through a tranquil landscape of pastures and forests with spectacular views of the Alpine mountain range.
Description
The starting point is at the Col de la Givrine, a few metres from the railway station and car park. After a short climb to warm up, the trail takes you to Pré-du-Four, where you can have a break and enjoy the stunning views of the Alpine range. When the weather’s right, the views are breath-takingly beautiful. Take a moment to soak up this spectacular vista and moment of calm before heading back down to civilisation, appreciating the unspoilt natural surroundings and tranquillity.
When you get to the small village of La Cure, the Hôtel Restaurant le Franco-Suisse is ideal for a short stop before heading off again. This hotel sits astride the border between France and Switzerland. On the French side, it’s a brasserie style establishment for a quick snack before getting your skis back on. On the Swiss side, you can take your time savouring delicious sophisticated dishes before taking the train home a few metres away.
