Percorso Valle Maggia
Overview
Intro
At Ponte Brolla the force of the River Maggia has cleft the rock, gouging out and polishing the gneiss. Life was hard in the Maggia Valley, the Ticino’s longest valley. Solace was provided by the church, as testified by edifices of religion and foreign governors.
Description
The signposted cycling route, suitable for everyone, leads from Locarno to the charming Maggia Valley, through characteristic villages and untouched nature. Passing through Losone and by crossing the rivers Maggia and Melezza one reaches Tegna and Ponte Brolla.
From Ponte Brolla one continues on the cycling track that leads to Avegno: inaugurated in the spring of 2016, this newly built path allows cyclists to enjoy their ride safely separated from other traffic.
The route, mostly on bike paths, leads to Cavergno at the entrance of the Bavona Valley. Some parts of the route, between Losone and Tegna and between Gordevio and Aurigeno lead along dirt tracks.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
