Intro
This circular route starts at Isenfluh, goes through Mederalp, which is slightly higher up, and then back to the easily reachable cable car. An easy trail with impressive views of the world-famous mountain trio: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
Description
The cabin is not very big at all. It provides just enough space for eight people – or for one cow. The cable car journey from Isenfluh up to Sulwald takes around 10 minutes. Right next to the station is the Sulwald-Stübli restaurant, where the trail begins. Simply stop and take in the view over the majestic mountain trio of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, as well as the back of the Lauterbrunnen valley. But beware: The view can be so captivating, there is a danger you might forget about the upcoming snowshoe hike!
Following the «Sulwald Rundweg» sign, the path starts on a wide road until it forks to the right and the climb begins. After the first, gentle part of the walk, there is the option to hike further uphill towards the Lobhornhütte cabin. However, the Sulwald Trail forks to the right here. You will then continue uphill, through the snow-capped trees to a large clearing. Here, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains are almost at eye level.
The steep descent can then be covered fairly quickly in snowshoes. Once you have arrived at the road, the trail goes back to the starting point.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
