Intro
The lookout tower was built in 2006 and is located on Hofberg, the highest point of the town of Wil. It was constructed entirely of wood with striking x-shaped supports and a 189-step double spiral staircase leading to the viewing platform.
From the covered platform at 34 meters above ground, the views of Wil and its environs, the Fürstenland, Hinterthurgau and Toggenburg regions, the Alpstein mountain range with majestic Mt. Säntis and the seven Churfirsten peaks are spectacular. Three large information panels are provided for guidance. There is no direct access by car, but a parking lot is only a 15-minute walk from the tower, which can also be reached by foot from the Wil railway station in approx. 40 minutes.
