Morges at a glance
This is Morges
Morges is a small town right on the shores of Lake Geneva. The city is located in the Canton of Vaud, between Lausanne and Geneva. With its annual literary festival and as the centre of the La Côte wine region, it is a destination for culture and enjoyment.
Discover Morges
A walk through the old town of Morges will take you past pretty alleys and historic house facades. The ships of the Lake Geneva Shipping Company dock at the port. Right next to it is the castle of Morges. The 13th-century fortress houses five museums: The Vaud Military Museum, the Pewter Figurine Museum, the Artillery Museum, the Vaud Gendarmerie Museum and the Paderewski Museum. In autumn, the largest literature festival in Switzerland takes place here: "Le Livre sur les Quais". Finally, you can sit in one of the cafés on the lakeside promenade or stroll through the weekly market.
Tulip Festival behind the castle
In spring, the Parc de l'Indépendance behind the castle is transformed into a sea of flowers. Here you can admire over 140.000 tulips in 350 varieties in full bloom. The Fête de la Tulipe is one of the largest flower shows in Switzerland. Admission to the park is free.
La Côte wine region
Around Morges stretches La Côte, the largest contiguous wine-growing region on Lake Geneva. Vines for " Chasselas " and other Vaud wines grow on around 2,000 hectares. The wine trail takes you on foot through the vineyards to the wineries of the region. During a wine tasting, you will taste the white and red wines directly on site.
Around Morges
From the port of Morges, the boat will take you to neighbouring towns such as St-Prex with its medieval centre. Above Aubonne lies the Signal de Bougy. Here you have Lake Geneva and the Alps right in front of you. In about 10 minutes by train you can reach the " Lausanne " with the Olympic Museum. Geneva with its Jet d'Eau is also not far away.
