Jänzi Trail
Overview
Intro
Here you feel as if you are in the far north: to reach the Jänzi, you snowshoe through the varied winter landscape of the Langis-Glaubenberg area. Once you have arrived at the top you can look forward to a magnificent 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountain scenery and Sarnen Valley.
Description
The snowshoe tour starts at Langis car park, where an information panel at the cross-country skiing hut provides an overview of the trail. It initially leads via the restaurant at Schwendi-Kaltbad, once a spa resort famous for its healing moor and sulphur baths. The route then continues along the meandering Schlieren to Egghütte cabin.
From here, snowshoe hikers reach the Jänzi by following the ridge in a northerly direction. The scenery is magical and you almost feel as if you are in the far north. At the Jänzi there is a summit cross and a bench – as well as a superb all-round view of the surrounding mountains. The striking local peaks are especially easy to identify here: Pilatus, Stanserhorn, Giswilerstock and Stucklikreuz, as well as the Melchtal mountain chain.
The return trip initially goes fairly steeply downhill across expansive hills to Wolfetsmatt-Hohnegg, while the last section passes along the road back to Langis car park.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
