Dent de Nendaz – Tracouet
Intro
The Rhone Valley at your feet, 2000 meters below, and impressive views from up here as you gaze down upon the seemingly miniature railway and cars journeying on the motorway. A genuine vantage point at the heart of Valais!
Alp Tracouet with the Lac Noir mountain lake lies above the sunny Nendaz terrace – and this special spot just over the forest border is accessible by means of gondola rail. You should reckon with an hour for the climb along the mountain path to the Dent de Nendaz, from where you’re rewarded with views over the Rhone Valley to Bernese Alps in the west and the Mont Fort region.
Descent from the Lac Noir lake to Alp Balavaud: Where you discover well-weathered Larch trees, some of which the trunks measure around three meters in diameter and are up to 800 years old. Following the Bisse de Saxon (irrigation channel) you then make your way back to Nendaz.
