Snowboarding and Skiing Paradise
Intro
The Fee Glacier belongs to the Mischabel group of the Valais mountains and extends over a length of 5 km and a width of 6 km. It is divided into a northern and a southern section and the Small Fee Glacier (northern) is situated at an altitude of 3800 m.
At the base station of the Alpin Express on the Fee Glacier (1800 m), they already attract attention: skiers and snowboarders dressed for winter sports mixed in with people in short sleeves and hiking boots. It’s a different world up here. While the hikers quickly dig their jackets out of the backpacks and tourists in sneakers gingerly take a few steps, the summer-time skiers put on their fast high-tech gear and zoom off to have fun on the fantastic snow of the Fee Glacier. Twenty km of well-groomed slopes at 3500 m, ski lifts, an amazing view of the highest peaks of the Valais mountains and the hot summer sun make this an unforgettable summer ski day. Of course, the ski and snowboard instructors of Saas Fee are also in action throughout the summer.

Educational glacier trail leading up to the Fee Glacier
But the Fee Glacier is not only a paradise for boarders and skiers, there is also an interesting educational glacier trail leading up to the Fee Glacier.
Twelve information panels are provided on the route between the Felskinn cable car and the restaurant Gletschergrotte with interesting details about subjects of natural science. The route additionally offers a walk through a landscape that was shaped by a glacier with views far into the distance. The thematic trail is about 1.9 km long and although there are some precarious sections, it is well suited for families. The best time to hike the educational glacier trail is between spring and autumn.
