Vortrag und Eröffnung mit Regula Ackermann, stellv. Leiterin Kantonsarchäologie SG

Die kleine Ausstellung zum Fund von über 70 Austernschalen in der römischen Siedlung Kempraten rückt ein nicht alltägliches Nahrungsmittel ins Licht. Wie wurden Austern damals – ohne Kühlanlagen – transportiert, sodass sie weit weg von den Meeresküsten noch immer geniessbar waren? Und kann man ihre Herkunft bestimmen? Der Vortrag ergänzt und eröffnet die Präsentation «Fenster der Kantonsarchäologie» mit Informationen zu römischen Speisegewohnheiten, wie sie für Kempraten nachweisbar sind.
