The hike leads from the Riederfurka through the Aletsch Forest, over the Knebel Bridge, and on to Oberried.
Along the way, renowned glaciologist Dr. Hanspeter Holzhauser provides fascinating insights into the history of the Great Aletsch Glacier. He explains how the glacier’s location and extent have changed over the past millennia. As an expert on historic water conduits, he also demonstrates how glacial water was channeled all the way to Oberried. The group will be accompanied by our members Christoph Golob and Raimond Tscherrig.
