Information
Description
A scenic highlight for Adelboden guests is Engstligenalp, which can be reached by cable car from Adelboden. The extensive plateau at the foot of the Wildstrubel offers charming winter hiking routes, a small ski area and the largest snow igloo restaurant in Europe.
Ambience
The Schneeiglu restaurant consists of eight interconnected igloos with a total of 200 seats. Furs and woolen blankets, wooden tabletops and candles as well as artistic elements made of snow and ice create atmosphere, and cheese fondue is served for dinner. The construction method of the igloo operated by the neighboring mountain hotel Engstligenalp? Large balloons are filled with air and then filled with snow. When the balloon is removed, the igloo shell of snow remains. Important: Dress warmly - at temperatures between -3°C and +3°C you are much better off in the fondue igloo with ski clothing and well-insulated winter shoes than with jeans, a jacket and sneakers. After all, you don't want to pull the bread through the cheese while shivering. Besides: If you prefer to sit outside in the sun during the day, you will find a large restaurant terrace at Berghotel Engstligenalp.
