Intro
The Zentrum Paul Klee Museum combines art, music and creativity under one roof. In the undulating architecture of Renzo Piano, you will be immersed in the painter's work. Children create their own art in the Creaviva studio.
The Zentrum Paul Klee at a glance
The Zentrum Paul Klee Museum is located in the east of Bern and houses around 4,000 works by the artist. Architect Renzo Piano created a landscape sculpture made of glass and steel with the building made of three undulating hills. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also offers concerts, readings and the interactive children's studio Creaviva.
What to experience
Marvel at Paul Klee's work (1–2 hours)
The permanent exhibition "Kosmos Klee" shows changing works from the extensive collection. You will see paintings, watercolors and drawings from all of the artist's creative periods. Audio guides and digital tours deepen your understanding of Klee's art.
- Good to know: With the combined ticket you also visit the Museum of Fine Arts Bern.
- Tip: The museum includes a field that you can discover on a walk.
Get creative at Creaviva (1-2 hours)
In the Creaviva children's studio, you can create your own works of art with your children – under guidance and with space for your own ideas. The workshops are aimed at children from the age of 4 and there are also courses for adults. The Creaviva provides you with knowledge and techniques and at the same time leaves room for your own creativity.
- Good to know: The open studio takes place several times a day.
- Tip: The five-franc workshop offers quick creativity for in between.
In Klee's footsteps through Bern (2 hours)
Under the title "Paths to Klee", you will walk through Bern on three themed trails. Depending on the route, the Zentrum Paul Klee Museum is the destination or starting point. You will walk past Klee's childhood home, the quarries that inspired him and his grave in the Schosshalden cemetery. Information boards along the way tell of the artist's life.
- Good to know: The shortest route is 4 kilometres long, the longest route is 6.5 kilometres.
